Links to categories for older periods
[edit]Category:19th-century Belgian people links via redirects e.g. Category:16th-century Belgian people to Habsburg, Spanish and Austrian Netherlands categories, as these correspond closely enough to C16, C17 and C18
Likewise, Category:People of the Habsburg Netherlands etc link forwards by using the cat= parameter in navseasoncats.
I have noted these examples at Template talk:Navseasoncats#Using cat parameter with redirects to span country name changes.
This method has not yet been applied to occupational sub-cats. @Marcocapelle: you may want to make use of this. – Fayenatic London 11:16, 8 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Fayenatic london: I tried the architects, but it does not seem to work properly. Marcocapelle (talk) 17:26, 8 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Marcocapelle: it also requires redirects at the names used in the parameter. I just created the missing pages Category:16th-century Belgian architects and Category:17th-century Belgian architects, made a few null edits on each of the actual category pages to force the links to update, and now the whole series shows up on each one from C16 (Habsburg) to C21.
- Of course you might as well wait until they have been renamed using "from" before doing more. – Fayenatic London 20:12, 8 October 2022 (UTC)
