Articles are sorted according to whether they are a featured article or not, which is a rough measure of importance. I'm not sure of a better (reasonably objective) way you could achieve any sort of sorting by importance. Calliopejen1 (talk) 20:02, 30 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
