Speedy deletion proposed. Several "incidents" here document legitimate, important and life-changing research (e.g. Silver Spring Monkeys, Britches) that this category is smearing as simply "animal cruelty." This is entirely POV. There is an "animal rights" category that all these pages could be added to, but this category needs deleted right now. Also, I'm doing this anonymously (of my usual WP username) since animal rights' activists aren't exactly the most rational or subtle of people. Sorry if that causes a problem. 143.53.222.35 (talk) 15:05, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, I'd like to reply to you about that. First of all, I'm very sympathetic to your concerns about anonymity, which, alas, are all too well-taken. (Since I have no way of knowing how experienced you are with Wikipedia, let me suggest that you take a look at WP:SOCK and make sure you know that you should not edit the same pages as both an IP and logged in.) But let me suggest that deleting the category (speedy or otherwise) is the wrong way to go about this. It's just a category. But the right way is to look at the pages themselves within the category, to look at their content, and to edit for WP:NPOV wherever that is appropriate. --Tryptofish (talk) 16:12, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- Please note that I have re-written the description of the category at the top of the page. It may be helpful to look, by way of comparison, at Category:Antisemitism. Putting a page in a category is not the same thing as passing judgment about whether verifiable claims about the subject are true or false. --Tryptofish (talk) 22:06, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
