Not enough subcategories
[edit]Isn't it obvious there are not enough subdivisions for such a broad & over-populated area? I come here repeatedly checking for a deeper sort, and go away w/o sorting the stub further bcz i don't want to learn how to create sub-stubs and don't feel clear i've doped out the right degree of refinement even if i had learned. I may just start adding rd-lk sub tags & putting What-lks-here links for them on Category:American people stubs, as the most practical means for on the long term getting proper stub tags into the stubs.

- Please don't do that, I am going to begin a regex for specific key words. This will remove articles that belong elsewhere by the fastest way possible. Eagle (talk) (desk) 03:03, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- I have found over 300 articles that go into musician stubs. More to come!!! (in a week from this post)Eagle (talk) (desk) 17:41, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
Very good work on this, Eagle. You've found so many I'm already re-splitting the category! I agree with both of you; it urgently needs more categories, but making redlinks isn't a good idea; they're as likely to be "fixed" back to what they were, as for anyone to notice and think to create the category. Best way is to go to WP:WSS/P, where you'll hopefully find help with the technicalities of creating the templates and categories (or get someone else to do it), and such like. (I've proposed both US-artist-stub and US-sportsbio-stub recently for example.) Alai 05:31, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
regex
[edit]Beginning with...
- Actor (incomplete)Eagle (talk) (desk) 03:03, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- I am searching for instances of the word "actor" or "Actor".
- ABORTED due to large number of musicians found.
- Musician(complete)Eagle (talk) (desk) 03:36, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- I am searching for, "songwriter","singer","bandleader","composer","dancer","musician","conductor"
- MAY also remove the US-bio-stub tag from articles that have other stubs, as some articles I am incountering already have 2 or 3 stubs.
- IN ADDITION Long articles (over 4000 charecters will be removed rather than passed on as a stub to the Musician stub category.
(incomplete)Articles that already have 2 or more stub categories other than this. In that case I will remove them from this category. (As of now this category is so full as to be of little use)Eagle (talk) (desk) 22:46, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
Changing methods, Going though each and removing those I know fit into ANY sub category. NO REGEX.Eagle (talk) (desk) 23:01, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

American/United States mix?
[edit]Why does this category have subcats with such a mix of titles that begin with either American or United States? Can't we decide to use one term or the other here? --Ohms law 17:08, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
Ballet dancers
[edit]Where would a ballet dancer go? Entertainers? Do we need to suggest a new cat? --Cromwellt|talk|contribs 01:31, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
