Use of category

[edit]

The way this category is being used in the subsections Category:American liberals, at least, is not according to any political science methodology that I know of, or of self-definitions of the groups or individuals so categorized. So, by what? Apparently only by individual categorizer's points of view and opinions on the matter. Please discuss at Wikipedia talk:Categorization of people#people by political belief. --lquilter 14:53, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why no Conservatives and Liberals?

[edit]

I see that Category:American conservatives and Category:American liberals used to exist but were deleted. This begs the question, if an American explicitly describes himself as a "conservative" (e.g., S. E. Cupp [1]) or "liberal" (e.g., Ed Schulz [2]), how do we categorize him? — Loadmaster (talk) 19:11, 13 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
