American columnists, or Columnists for American media?
[edit]We need to be clear what this category is actually about. Is this category about columnists with American citizenship writing anywhere, or citizens of any country writing for U.S. media?
From the title alone, one would assume this is about columnists with American citizenship, and thus could include American expats writing, say, for the BBC, but would exclude Canadian long-time residents of New York writing for the New York Times. This common-sense view is supported by the inclusion of Commons:Category:Columnists from the United States in the article.
However, Category:The New York Times columnists is listed as a sub-category of Category:American columnists, which, if you accept the assumption above, is incorrect since Times columnists can hold any nationality. To me, an American columnist is an American columnist, and I don't care where he's living, or whether he happens to write for the Sydney Morning Herald, or Le Monde.
Following WP:BOLD, I've gone ahead and assumed the common-sense interpretation, and added a sentence to the Category page to make it clear. Mathglot (talk) 18:03, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
