this category page is actually terrible, does someone who actually edits wikipedia wanna do anything about this? I mean look, we got: -a marketing slogan that nobody cares about -a quote from some movie that wasn't important enough to show up in the movie's corresponding article -the name for a ship between a fictional bird and pony that will never be relevant when the meme is dead by next year
and that is HALF of the entries on this category page. these are not neologisms.. and not just the 2021 page, these pages seriously need some cleaning up. at least other years have a number of notable actual examples, cause retrospect makes it easier to identify them etc. but they're still filled with terrible non-examples. Memorable/commonly referenced quotes are not by nature neologisms. Catchphrases and memes are not by nature neologisms. It's like someone went and picked some pop culture/internet phenomena at random and sprinkled them into these pages and nobody has bothered to clean it up. Like, "Walter White Breaks Down"? "Lamar roasts Franklin"? REALLY? These are not even phrases that would be part of speech, they are just abstractly referencing something? I'm not going to be the arbitrator that decides which ones stay and which ones go because I'm sure the type of person to click on this is much more likely to be a neologism expert than I but seriously, without a doubt these category pages need attention
