Treaties extended by the United Kingdom to the Gilbert and Ellice Islands (1892–1976). From 1916–71, the Gilbert and Ellice Islands were part of the British Western Pacific Territories. A treaty extended to the Gilbert and Ellice Islands remains in force for the independent successor countries only if the country has declared its succession to the treaty.
