- It is generally a sublist of IUCN Red List species.
If a species is threatened, and wild-caught for the trade, it may be included in this category even if the scale of the threat posed by capture is unknown (as is often the case, especially if capture is illegal). This category may also be used historically; species that are known to have been wild-caught in the past may also be included even if the threat from the pet trade may have passed (as this may also be hard to establish, and historical threats are of interest, especially for extinct species).
