Category:Rudyard Kipling stories about India
This category is designed to allow an easier searching of the immense number of Kipling's stories by grouping those that are set in India. These were mostly written before he left in 1889.
Various sub-categories are envisaged, grouping those stories about different characters; different focuses; and others as they come to seem useful. An important division is into those about Indians and those about the British in India, the latter subdivided into those of 'the administrative classes' - the professionals of the Indian Civil Service who ruled the country under the British Raj; other professionals such as the engineers of 'The Bridge Builders' and doctors, etc; army officers and so on - and the 'uneducated classes' such as the Other Ranks of the British Army, the artisans like train drivers and sailors.
