Category containing shore-based facilities operated by the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) from its creation in 1911 until unification into the Canadian Forces on February 1, 1968. From 1968 to present, bases have been designated as a Canadian Forces Base (CFB). In August 2011 Maritime Command was renamed to Royal Canadian Navy but since it remains part of the Canadian Forces, bases are retaining the CFB designation.
