Category:Professorships of British Imperial and Commonwealth history

The most prestigious Professorships for British Imperial and Commonwealth History are held at the University of Oxford, King's College London, and the University of Cambridge. These academic chairs were founded in the first decades of the twentieth century (with endowments by imperialists like Cecil Rhodes) in order to promote the study and expansion of the British Empire.

The most prominent professorships include: the Vere Harmsworth Professorship of Imperial and Naval History at Cambridge, the Rhodes Professorship of Imperial History at King's College London, and the Beit Professorship of Commonwealth History at Oxford. After the Second World War, Cambridge also endowed another chair in this subject, the Smuts Professorship of Commonwealth History.
