Ombre or Hombre was the oldest card game to introduce bidding. It gives its name to a group of card games where the black Aces (or 'long Aces' in Spanish decks) or black Queens are permanent trumps - the Ace of Spades being the highest card and the Ace of Clubs the 3rd highest. In the red suits, the pip cards rank in reverse order.
