This category contains pages on manuscripts in the Old Norwegian language, i.e. from the earliest fragments of the 12th century to the mid-16th century. The majority of Old Norwegian manuscripts are dated to the period ca. 1200–1400. The category also includes resources such as archives containing editions or annotations of Old Norwegian manuscripts. Note that Old Icelandic and Old Norwegian often collectively are referred to as Old Norse (or Old Norse–Icelandic) since the languages were very close, at least until around 1400. However, Wikipedia has another category for Old Icelandic manuscripts, and all major catalogues of Old Norse manuscripts draw the distinction between Old Icelandic and Old Norwegian.
