Lochs in the South Lanarkshire area of Scotland.

Loch is the name given to lakes in Scotland. Almost all lakes in the country have loch in their name, but there are some notable exceptions. For example, Lake of Menteith, in the district of Stirling and Stable Lake in Douglas, South Lanarkshire have this distinction but are still, technically speaking, lochs.

Many of South Lanarkshire's lochs are man-made, such as Lanark Loch, Braidwood Loch and Strathclyde Loch. Strathclyde Loch does not fall entirely within the South Lanarkshire area - it is between Hamilton and Motherwell with part of it in North Lanarkshire.

The main rivers in South Lanarkshire are the Avon Water, River Clyde, Mouse Water, Douglas Water and River Nethan. Strathclyde Loch was created by diverting water from the River Clyde.
