NOTE - Indonesia commenced in 1949 as the country name, prior to that Netherlands or Dutch East Indies was the colonial era name, prior to that era - the area of Indonesia had a range of names from different sources, most states in this category existed in the 1st millennium of the common era, and there was no coherent name for the region in which they occurred.
