This category is about the Han family of Lasem, originally from Lasem, also known as the Han family of East Java or Surabaya. They came to prominence in colonial Indonesia through their alliance with the Dutch East India Company in the eighteenth century. They maintained a long tradition of public service as both Chinese officieren and priyayi (Chinese and Javanese civil government officials).
