Category:Flycatchers

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Flycatcher" is a form taxon used for a range of unrelated passerine birds birds. They include the true flycatchers in the Muscicapidae, the American tyrant flycatchers which are entirely unrelated, the chats, and large numbers of minor groups which are related to almost any group of songbirds one can think of.

They are usually smallish to mid-sized perching birds that tend towards dark plumage, but some are more colorful. Their name derives from the habit of hawking insects out of mid-air.
