Category:Copy to Wikimedia Commons reviewed by a human

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Media related files end in this category if {{Copy to Wikimedia Commons}} has |human=Example. A review means that a user has checked that the file can be moved to Commons. It is possible to import a script for easy review.

See more info on Wikipedia:Moving files to the Commons.

Media should not be transferred to commons unless:

  • The media meets ALL requirements for Commons, including a source (which is not a direct link to the media), license, original publication date, and FULL authorship details that can be confirmed. These will typically be contained in an {{information}} block.
  • The media is licensed appropriately:-
    • For Non-US public domain works, this means that at least 70 years have elapsed since the author or creator died. ( With exceptions for works created in countries having copyright terms longer than 70pma.)
    • For copyright works licensed from third parties, an EXPLICITLY specified OTRS ticket number confirming permission and license.
  • The uploader of the content has not previously stated their objections to media being placed on Commons. If the uploader has previously objected then all their uploads should be marked as {{keep local}}
  • Unused or orphaned images should not be transferred, unless there is a realistic prospect of educational use on other projects.. If they also do not have a realistic use on Wikipedia, they should be deleted as soon as possible.
  • Images which have been rejected at Commons (typically for licensing concerns) should also be deleted locally, unless they meet the Non-free content criteria, and an appropriate rationale has been provided.

Note: please make sure that files have properly meaningful non-conflicted names before you duplicate them at Commons.
