Bynder B.V. is an international software company with offices in the US, Spain, UK, and Australia, specializing in digital asset management (DAM) services. The company's cloud-based digital asset management platform enables users to create, store, find, share, deliver, and utilize digital files efficiently.[1][2][3]

History

[edit]

Bynder B.V. was founded in 2013 by Chris Hall, Roland Keijzer, and Stefan Pelders, who were colleagues at the software development agency LabelA.[4][5] While working there, they recognized the need to store, organize, and share digital files with their clients, leading them to create Bynder as stand-alone software.[6]

In April 2014, Bynder B.V. acquired LumaCloud LLC, expanding its operations to Boston, USA.[7] In April 2015, it acquired SocialExpress, a social media analytics reporting tool.[8][9] In August 2016, the company secured €20 million in Series A funding from Insight Partners.[10][11] In February 2018, Bynder B.V. acquired WebDam, Shutterstock's digital asset management business, for $49.1 million, strengthening its position in the DAM market.[12][13] In June 2020, the company acquired We Adapt, a video creation and templating platform.[14] In March 2022, Bynder acquired GatherContent, a content operations platform.[15]

At the end of 2022, Thomas H. Lee Partners signed a deal to acquire Insight Partners' stake in Bynder B.V., valuing the company at approximately $600 million.[16][17] In September 2023, Bynder acquired EMRAYS, an AI-based search provider, for an undisclosed amount.[18]

In 2024, Bynder B.V. released a study highlighting that the use of generative AI tools has led to a 56.7% increase in content production since the launch of ChatGPT.[19][20] In February, Bynder B.V. was named a "Leader" in Digital Asset Management by Forrester Research, Inc.[21]
