The Buryat Battalion is a battalion that supposedly serves within the Russian army, allegedly consisting of soldiers from North Korea that would take part in the Russian invasion of Ukraine.[1] The battalion is allegedly part of the 11th Guards Air Assault Brigade (according to Ukrainian state media).[2]

As of today, there had been no reports confirming it's existence outside Ukrainian sources. On 19 October 2024, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that he could not confirm reports that North Korea has sent troops to Russia ahead of what could be a deployment to the war in Ukraine.[3]
