Brzeźniak [ˈbʐɛʑɲak] (German: Birkholz)[1] is a settlement in the administrative district of Gmina Człopa, within Wałcz County, West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in north-western Poland.[2] It lies approximately 9 kilometres (6 mi) north-west of Człopa, 30 km (19 mi) south-west of Wałcz, and 104 km (65 mi) east of the regional capital Szczecin.
Before 1772 the area was part of Kingdom of Poland, and in 1772–1945 it belonged to Prussia and Germany. For more on its history, see Wałcz County.
