The Brigade 70 or B-70 is one of the two special forces units of the Royal Cambodian Army responsible for capture or kill high-value targets that pose a threat to the government, counterterrorism, counter-revolutionary, crowd control support, executive protection, hostage rescue, irregular warfare operations, and provide security for government buildings and infrastructure that are at risk of destruction in the event of riots or terrorism. Most of their main missions are counter-revolutionary and protect the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
History
[edit]Its history is traced back to the Phnom Penh-based Khmer Rouge unit, in charge of detaining and beating anyone to make them confess that they're Khmer Rouge fighters.[1] After the Paris Peace Accords were signed in 1991, the unit became known as Regiment 70.[1] They later became known as Brigade 70 in 1993.[1]
