BreakThrough News or BT News is an alternative[1]: 58 online media and news outlet based in New York City.[2][3][4][5][1] It is an outlet of BreakThrough Media or BT Media, a registered non-profit since June 2020.[6]
History
[edit]BreakThrough News began posting to Instagram[7] and YouTube[8] in early 2020,[9] and 'Breakthrough Bt Media Inc.' registered as a non-profit June 2020.[6] According to the Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI), BreakThrough News "focused on a number of pro-CCP, far-left, and after the 2022 invasion of Ukraine, pro-Kremlin causes" until late 2023, and it started to focus on Gaza after October 7, 2023.[10]
On May 28, 2023, William Bredderman reported in The Daily Beast that BreakThrough News is part of a "pro-Russia, pro-China news network" funded by the American businessman Neville Roy Singham.[9] The NCRI published a report May 2024 citing Bredderman entitled "Contagious Disruption: How CCP Influence and Radical Ideologies Threaten Critical Infrastructure and Campuses Across the United States," stating that BreakThrough News is part of what it calls the 'Singham network,' which it describes as "a wide range of nonprofits, alternative media outlets, and donor organizations that have been funneling undisclosed funds and disseminating CCP-supported agendas and narratives into the United States since at least 2017."[10]
