Brandon Diau is a German born Congolese professional footballer who plays as a defender currently playing with Institute in the NIFL Championship.
Personal life
[edit]Brandon Diau was born in Bonn in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany to Congolese immigrant parents.
Career
[edit]Brandon Diau's footballing journey started at Bayer Leverkusen but was later let go.
In 2008, Diau joined local team Troisdorf and played impressively. He proceeded to land himself a contract with SV Hamburger. Diau plaiyed for Hamburg's U17's, and U19's teams before being released in 2013.
Diau went on to play for amateur sides Hilal Bergheim and TSC Euskirchen during 13/14.
In 2014, Diau signed for professional team Hapoel Afula in Israel.
In 2015, Diau dropped back down to amateur football in Germany signing for SVN Zweibrücken.
Diau then played for a non-league side Billericay during the 2016/17 season.
Diau then switched to Burgess Hill 17/18.
In February 2018, Diau started a social media challenge where he would sign with a professional football club in 180 days which he would eventually extend to 365 days.
During this challenge, Diau obtained trials with many teams from all across Europe,[1] eventually signing a contract with Tunbridge Wells for the 2018/2019 season.
Diau then joined up with Truro City, and Great Wakering Rovers for several months in 2019 before signing for Kidderminster Harriers for the 2019/20 season.[2] Diau would eventually be loaned out to Redditch United that year.[3]
In 2020, Diau reached his goal of returning to professional football when he transferred to Romanian clubPandurii.
Diau then signed for Icelandic side Víkingur Ólafsvík for the 2021/2022 season.
Diau had spells in Wales with Flint Town during the 2022/23 season and Colwyn Bay during the 2023/2024 season.[4]
Diau then signed with Portadown in Northern Ireland in January 2024. There, he earned promotion to the NIFL premiership as Portadown won the league.[5]
