Blue Mounds Township is a township in Pope County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 207 at the 2000 census.

The township derives its name from Blue Mounds, Wisconsin.[3]

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 36.0 square miles (93 km2), of which 34.9 square miles (90 km2) is land and 1.1 square miles (2.8 km2) (3.11%) is water.

Demographics

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 207 people, 83 households, and 63 families residing in the township. The population density was 5.9 inhabitants per square mile (2.3/km2). There were 92 housing units at an average density of 2.6 per square mile (1.0/km2). The racial makeup of the township was 100% white.

There were 83 households, out of which 27.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.7% were married couples living together, 3.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.9% were non-families. 20.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 4.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 2.86.

In the township the population was spread out, with 24.2% under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 18.8% from 25 to 44, 39.1% from 45 to 64, and 11.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 46 years. For every 100 females, there were 91.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 112.2 males.

The median income for a household in the township was $37,708, and the median income for a family was $40,000. Males had a median income of $26,111 versus $18,750 for females. The per capita income for the township was $23,466. About 6.1% of families and 9.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 7.7% of those under the age of eighteen and none of those 65 or over.
