The Battle of Qarahamid was a battle between the Safavid and Ottoman empires in 1510, where the Ottoman prince Selim attempted to take control of the Qara-Hamid fortress from the Safavids.
Battle
[edit]According to Mohammad Khan‘s writing, Shahzada Selim gathered a large number of troops and attacked the Qarahamid fortress together with Mustafa Pasha. Since Mohammad Khan Ustajlu was sick at that time, his brother Qara khan allowed him to go against the Ottoman troops with a group of 40,000-50,000 men. This operation took only 15 days. Shah Ismail was extremely angry at this news and in a letter he sent to Mohammad Khan, he requested him to send word to him immediately if Shahzada Selim attacked the Safavid borders again. Shah Ismail declared that he would personally come and cut off the son of the Ottoman sultan and flay his head but Selim I was already on his way to tabriz[1][2]
