Barton Springs Bridge is a bridge in Austin, Texas, United States that crosses Barton Creek just before its confluence with the Colorado River. The western end of the bride connects to Zilker Park.[2][3]
Built in 1926 as a two lane bridge [1] at a cost of $31,500,[4] Barton Springs Bridge replaced an earlier wooden bridge.[5] From 1945[6] to 1946[1] the bridge was expanded to four lanes at a cost of $70,850.[1]
On December 14, 2023, amid concrete degradation and non-compliance with the standards established in the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 the Austin City Council voted to begin design work on a replacement bridge [1]
