Ascuta media is a species of spider in the family Orsolobidae.[1] It is endemic to New Zealand.[2]
Taxonomy
[edit]Ascuta media was described in 1956 by Raymond Forster.[2] The holotype is stored in Canterbury Museum.[3]
Description
[edit]Cephalothorax and chelicerae are a uniform brown colour. Legs are paler in colour. Eyes are ringed with black colour. Abdomen is creamy white with chevron patterns.[2]
Distribution
[edit]Ascuta media is endemic to Fiordland in New Zealand.[2]
Conservation status
[edit]Under the New Zealand Threat Classification System, this species is listed as "Not Threatened".[4]
