Aquilegia lactiflora is a perennial species of plant in the family Ranunculaceae, native to Central Asia and the Himalayas.[1]
Description
[edit]Aquilegia lactiflora is 40–80cm tall[2] and has white, cream, or greenish-white flowers with the petals bent outwards and the stamens extending beyond them,[3] and white sepals.[4] It flowers between May[4] and August.[2]
Taxonomy
[edit]The specific name lactiflora, "milk-flower", refers to the pale colour of the petals and sepals of the plant.
Distribution and habitat
[edit]The species is native to Central Asia and the Himalayas, recorded in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan,[1] northwest Xinjiang,[2] and in Jammu and Kashmir in India.[3] It grows in shaded rocky habitats[4] and grassy slopes.[2]
