Anniversary Day (play)
Appearance
Anniversary Day, or Helen's Betrothal is a 1868 Australian stage play set in Sydney.[1][2] It was "written by a gentleman of Sydney" (John Marwick).[3]
According to the Sydney Morning Herald the play "appeared to give considerable satisfaction. The scene is laid in Sydney; the plot is carefully constructed, a moderate amount of the sensational being introduced to render it more attractive; and it was placed upon the stage with considerable care."[4]
Empire praised the "genuine ingenuity" of the play.[5] Another item in the same paper called the play "well written".[6]
