Anne-Cécile Sarfati (born on 8 February 1967 in Paris) is a French journalist, author and entrepreneur. She runs the editorial and event consulting company Actually. For more than twenty years, she worked at Elle magazine, where she served as editor-in-chief and director of editorial diversification.

Biography

[edit]

Anne-Cécile Sarfati joined the fashion magazine Elle in 1995. She started as a senior reporter before becoming deputy editor-in-chief and later editor-in-chief of the weekly magazine.

In 2011, within the "editorial diversification department," she created several events linked to the Elle brand, such as the Elle Active and Elle Zen forums,[1] the Elle Run race, the Elle Community House, the Elle conference on women during the 2017 presidential campaign, among others. Sponsored by major corporations, these events were part of Elle's strategy to diversify its editorial content. They were often tied to special editions, dedicated podcasts, and articles published on the Elle website.[2]

She has also been a television columnist on La Maison des Maternelles[3] on France 5 in 2016, and on Club Pujadas,[4] hosted by David Pujadas on LCI since 2018.

Since 1998, she has authored several books on women in the workplace, education, and children's well-being, including Petits tracas et gros soucis (co-authored with clinical psychologist Christine Brunet). In 2021, she published Nous réussirons ensemble: couples à double carrière, les freins, les pièges, les clés with Albin Michel.[5][6]

In early 2020, she founded Actually, a consulting company specializing in editorial and event planning for businesses or media, focusing on workplace diversity.[7]

Advocacy for Women

[edit]

In 2011, to promote women's work, Anne-Cécile Sarfati founded the Elle Active forums.

Forbes magazine, in its "Special Women" issue published in July 2020, ranked her among the forty inspiring French women.

Most of the events she organizes through Actually aim to promote professional equality.[8][9]

Personal life

[edit]

She is married to Hervé Gattegno, editorial director of Le Journal du Dimanche and Paris Match, as well as a columnist for RMC and BFMTV. Together, they have three children.
