Alexa Guarachi Bruner (née Guarachi (Spanish pronunciation: [aˈleksa ɣwaˈɾatʃi],[a] born 17 November 1990) is an American-born Chilean former professional tennis player who specialised in doubles.[1] She reached her career-high doubles ranking of world No. 11 in September 2021 and won five WTA Tour titles, most notably the 2021 Dubai Championships alongside Darija Jurak.[2] Guarachi reached her only Grand Slam tournament final at the 2020 French Open with Desirae Krawczyk,[3][4] and the pair were semifinalists at the 2021 US Open.[5] They also qualified for the 2021 WTA Finals.[6]
Guarachi represented Chile in the Fed Cup, later Billie Jean King Cup, starting in 2018.[citation needed] She announced her retirement from professional tennis in April 2024.[7][8]

Notes
[edit]- ^ In isolation, Guarachi is pronounced [ɡwaˈɾatʃi].
- ^ The first Premier 5 event of the year has switched back and forth between the Dubai Tennis Championships and the Qatar Ladies Open since 2009. Dubai was classified as a Premier 5 event from 2009 to 2011 before being succeeded by Doha for the 2012–2014 period. In 2015, Dubai regained its Premier 5 status while Doha was demoted to Premier status. The Premier 5 tournaments were reclassified as WTA 1000 tournaments in 2021.
- ^ The WTA International tournaments were reclassified as WTA 250 tournaments in 2021.
- ^ The WTA Premier tournaments were reclassified as WTA 500 tournaments in 2021.
