Alex James Weathers Monis (born March 20, 2003) is a professional footballer who plays as a forward for MLS Next Pro club New England Revolution II. Born in the United States, Monis plays for the Philippines national team.
Club career
[edit]Born in Downers Grove, Illinois, Monis began his career with the Chicago Fire youth academy before joining Chicago FC United.[2] He then returned to the Chicago Fire in 2018.[2]
Chicago Fire
[edit]On March 11, 2020, Monis signed a homegrown player deal with Major League Soccer club Chicago Fire.[3]
Forward Madison (loan)
[edit]On July 24, 2020, Monis was loaned to USL League One club Forward Madison for the remainder of the 2020 season.[4] He made his professional debut for the club a day later on July 25 against North Texas SC, coming on as a 74th minute in a 2–1 defeat.[5]
New England Revolution II
[edit]Monis signed with MLS Next Pro side New England Revolution II on January 8, 2024.[6]
International career

[edit]On May 15, 2019, Monis made his United States debut for the under-16s in a friendly against the Czech Republic.[7]
Philippines
[edit]In May 2024, Monis was included in the Philippines 28-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Vietnam and Indonesia.[8][9] Monis made his debut on 6 June 2024 against the former at the Mỹ Đình National Stadium. He started and played 70 minutes as Vietnam won 3–2.[10]
