Aaikyam (ऐक्यम्) is an online platform dedicated to uniting artists and audiences within the informal Indian music industry. The platform serves as a marketplace for artists to showcase and sell their unique creations, including compositions and sound recordings. It was founded by Rishit Shivesh and Dhaivat Vipat, with its primary focus on protecting intellectual property rights and providing monetization opportunities for creators. Aaikyam emphasizes secure transactions and clear licensing terms for both personal and commercial use.

Overview

[edit]

Aaikyam was developed to bridge the gap between talented artists and their potential audiences. It focuses on empowering musicians in India's informal sector by ensuring their creations are protected, sold securely, and fairly monetized. In addition to its marketplace, Aaikyam is developing tools that allow creators to earn sustainable income from their content.

History and foundation

[edit]

Aaikyam was founded in 2024 by a group of students and visionaries from SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), a leading private university in India. Inspired by the untapped potential of the informal Indian music industry, the founders aimed to create a platform that could empower independent musicians and provide them with the tools necessary to succeed in a competitive market.[1]

The journey of Aaikyam began as a college project, where the team focused on addressing the challenges faced by independent artists, including copyright protection, monetization, and audience engagement. Over time, the idea evolved into a comprehensive platform backed by innovative technology and a strong focus on community-building.

Aaikyam Labs

[edit]

In 2024, Aaikyam Labs Private Limited was established as the parent company of Aaikyam to formalize operations and scale the platform's reach.[2] Registered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Aaikyam Labs serves as the foundation for the platform's technological advancements and strategic growth.
