A Love To Kill For is the second studio album by American metalcore band Chamber, released on July 14, 2023 via Pure Noise Records.[1]

Composition and themes

[edit]

Musically, the album contains a heavier sound with the usual technical riffs, and dissonant chords, with more electronic elements and heavier breakdown amplified from Cost of Sacrifice and Carved In Stone. Vocalist Jacob Lilly and guitarist/vocalist Gabe Manuel commented on the group's decision to write more crazier, darker, and unpredictable songs[2] and preferring to be the "fucked up band" rather than the "pretty band"[3].

Lyrically, the album deals in addiction, selfishness, narcissism, and loss. In an interview with New Noise Magazine, Lilly stated that he wrote lyrics based about what people yearn to have and miss out on, mentioning the aspects of being in a band and missing out on holidays[2]. According to Manuel, "Devoured" deals in "people who don't know when to give up on something."[4]

Promotion and release

[edit]

On March 2, 2023, the bands released their first single, Tremble[5], with an accompanying guitar playthrough of the song by guitarist and vocalist Gabe Manuel. They then released their second single "Devoured", featuring Kublai Khan TX vocalist Matt Honeycutt, on May 10, while announcing the coming of the album and providing the tracklist[4]. On the day of the album's released, they released their third single, 'Retribution" while announcing a tour throughout the rest of summer with Cell, Orthodox, and Momentum, and a November run with bands Nasty, King 810, ten56, Fox Lake, and Reduction[6].
