Career
[edit]Hossain was elected to parliament from Patuakhali-3 in 1991, 1996, 2001 and 2014 as a Bangladesh Awami League candidate. He was made the state minister of textiles in 1998 in the first Hasina cabinet.[3] He did not receive the nomination for 2008 general election from Bangladesh Awami League for his support of reforms in the league during the 2006–08 Bangladeshi political crisis. The nomination went to Golam Maula Rony.[4] In 2013, he was removed from all committees of Bangladesh Awami League.[5]
