Novak Djokovic was the reigning champion and qualified this year, but withdrew from the tournament due to injury.[1][2] This will mark the first time that none of the Big Three will participate at the tournament since 2001.
Alex de Minaur made his singles debut at the event. He became the first Australian to qualify for the singles competition since Lleyton Hewitt in 2004.
