Seeding
[edit]The top five teams from both 2016 Centrobasket and 2016 South American Basketball Championship plus the two teams from North America (Canada and USA) qualified directly for the 2019 FIBA World Cup qualification. Four additional teams were scheduled to participate at a pre-qualifier tournament in July 2017, but it was cancelled. Instead, the sixth- and seventh-placed teams at the Centrobasket and South American Championship were invited to the World Cup qualification.[1]
