The Çopur Musa Uprising (Turkish: Çopur Musa Ayaklanması) was an uprising in Afyonkarahisar and its surroundings by Çopur Musa during the Turkish War of Independence.
Description
[edit]During the revolts in Bolu, Düzce, and Yozgat, Çopur Musa, who was trying to commit banditry while in the Uşak Assault Battalion in Afyonkarahisar, raided Çivril (which was then part of the Hüdavendigâr vilayet) on 21 June 1920 with the forces he gathered around him (mainly composed of Greeks).[1] Here, Çopur Musa incited the people to revolt by saying that the Caliphate was being lost and forcing them to join the army. Once he was defeated by the forces of the Turkish National Movement, he was forced to take refuge in Greece.[2]
