Wilsonaria megalocarpa is a species of flowering plant in the rose family, Rosaceae. It is a tree native to southeastern Tibet and south-central China. It is the sole species in genus Wilsonaria.[1]
Description

[edit]It is a tree characterized by large fruits, 20—30 mm long by 15—20mm in diameter.[2]
Taxonomy

[edit]The species was first described as Sorbus megalocarpa in 1915 by Alfred Rehder. In 2018 Keith Rushforth reclassified it into the new genus Wilsonaria as W. megalocarpa.[1]
Etymology
[edit]The specific epithet megalocarpa from, the Greek megalo- meaning large or great and -carpus meaning fruit, means having large seeds or fruit.[3][4]
