Arbcom Interviews

[edit]

with some trepidation, I'm up for giving this a go, so have gotten the ball rolling.... any help would be wonderful! Privatemusings (talk) 00:54, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

That "Click to join the NTWW Skype public chat" link doesn't work. Gurch (talk) 11:37, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

this is on my radar (which is kinda faulty due to inactivity lately!) - I'll try and fix this up / find out what's going on anon..... Privatemusings (talk) 04:26, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Date for Episode 50

[edit]

The date for Episode 50 is listed as "Sunday, December 12"; however, next Sunday is actually December 13. Is the intended date Saturday the 12th or Sunday the 13th? (FWIW, I expect to be available next weekend on Sunday night but not on Saturday night.) Newyorkbrad (talk) 22:32, 6 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I meant to make it the 13th. Changed it now. --Coffee // have a cup // ark // 22:37, 6 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Hope to be there. Newyorkbrad (talk) 22:42, 6 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Community bulletin board

[edit]

After Witty lama removed WikipediaWeekly from the WP:CBB, I've similarly commented-out the Wikivoices box, as the episode listed there is 3 months old. Please uncomment it again, once a new episode is live. Thanks :) -- Quiddity (talk) 21:19, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

good call, Quid - there's an episode 'in the can' which I think will be posted very soon - I'll uncomment the box then, unless someone beats me to it :-) Privatemusings (talk) 00:12, 17 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Transcripts

[edit]

Hi there, what about providing transcripts for your sessions?--Kozuch (talk) 00:37, 25 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think transcripts are great - but they're an awful lot of work... I'm trying to transcribe the current ep. (minors and wikipedia etc.) and if you know of any easy way to facilitate transcriptions, or if you're up for working on them a bit, that would be wonderful! Privatemusings (talk) 23:18, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Last ep.

[edit]

did it happen? I (think) it was over a week ago now? Privatemusings (talk) 23:18, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. EP 51 did occur.Mitch32(A fortune in fabulous articles can be yours!) 23:39, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
coolio :-) - was it good? any idea when it might be online? (and happy new year, mitch :-) Privatemusings (talk) 23:46, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
any update on when the episode might be out? Privatemusings (talk) 03:51, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
c'mon folks... this is pretty poor, no? - can I help at all? Privatemusings (talk) 02:04, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The whole WV project seems to be stagnating at the moment. *Dan T.* (talk) 03:21, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

< yeah - it's a bit of a bummmer... I'd quite like to hear this ep. though - if anyone's watching, I'm happy to help, and not having the episode released is really not good enough. Privatemusings (talk) 03:06, 17 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ep 51 just got uploaded. I don't have time to put it in the main page, if someone else would like to then I'd be grateful. The audio follows. --James Pain (talk) 20:51, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
.
done. (ep. page could do with more details though) Privatemusings (talk) 01:59, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am confused about how to join in.

[edit]

The link for the public chat says that it isn't in the newest version for windows and the link to sign up as an interested party doesn't work. So how can I get involved?--Adam in MO Talk 02:38, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Skype customer service isn't very good (they're free, and you get what you pay for ;) ). Email me with problems and I'll help out. Durova412 13:56, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wikivoices episode 45

[edit]

I'd like to have a copy of wikivoices episode 45, please. Thanks Snape Dumbledore (talk) 12:45, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

restart for 2011?

[edit]

2010 has been a bit of a tongue tied year for wikivoices, does anyone fancy a restart in January as part of the tenth anniversary celebrations? I can't promise a t shirt but if we hold it some people will call in. ϢereSpielChequers 00:17, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I wish Wikivoices or WikipediaWeekly would start up again. I think both podcasts suddenly died at about the same time in late 2009. I don't think any other Wikipedia podcasts exist. Please come back! ——Rich jj (talk) 16:27, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Actually there are (were, anyway). I did the Audio Wikinews show from March to mid August in 2010 and only stopped because of the huge workload involved as well as the fact nobody knew we existed - even among the wikimedia foundation as a whole (despite my efforts to promote it and getting it on iTunes). Needless to say, it was discouraging. However, myself and a former wikinews member are looking to bring the show back - possibly this time as a weekly format covering not just the headline news but all things wikimedia. I can't promise anything at the moment, but if you listen to the work I did during my tenure, maybe you'll be surprised to hear what a professional show was put out and maybe you could help spread the word to maybe drum up interest for new volunteers? Any help would be appreciated! Turtlestack (talk) 06:41, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
+1. Been listening to some of the shows from the archives and they are really interesting. Please, bring it back. I've got a stack of archives to listen to, but it'd be really nice if it could come back into being. —Tom Morris (talk) 21:29, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Any idea when the next new episode will be produced? ... Seddon? ... -- œ 09:28, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Restart for 2020?

[edit]

It has been a while, but the intervening fashion for in person meetups is currently on hiatus. Anyone fancy joining me in getting this revived? ϢereSpielChequers 14:29, 19 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  1. entirely in control of the Wikimedia community
  2. recorded, with video + audio + voice to text transcription
  3. open to allowing anyone to contribute
  4. extreme friendliness with radically different intolerance of negativity and permitting only positive collaboration, through a non-discrimination policy and code of conduct
  5. probably interconnected with other Wikimedia projects, like perhaps The Signpost or other newsletters
  6. mix of internal and external facing
  7. not weekly, but a mix of continuous publishing and discussion with some kind of regularly published and citable digest
I am more interested in the ideology than the technology. I can compromise the technology if the ideology and the will to collaborate is here. Blue Rasberry (talk) 17:09, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Blue Rasberry, I only took part in a few of these towards the end of the series, but as you can check by hearing them, they were under the control of the lead participants, and apart from where there were technical glitches there were audio recordings (I remember recording a couple - I'd have to revisit the technology, but the only editing I did was getting rid of numerous pauses and ums). They were open - I started getting involved by just turning up. I can't remember the mods having to kick anyone off or there being a problem about that, but Durova, Awadewit and Private Musings sort of set a tone, are you interested in being the moderator? I like the idea of linking in with the signpost, I was thinking of kicking off with a London meetup substitute as we won't be meeting in person for a while. I would suggest starting with an internal focus and inviting external people once we have a couple of episodes we can show them. ϢereSpielChequers 17:46, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
