Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Blitzes/December 2016
This is a test. This is only a test. If this were a real talk page entry...
[edit]Rather disturbing to see this redlink on the blitz's page:
- If you have any questions, leave a message on the blitz's talk page.
So I'm creating the page by minimally populating it. --Thnidu (talk) 01:23, 8 December 2016 (UTC)
Early choice of article
[edit]I got the announcement on my talk page. Though I know the blitz won't start till Sunday 00:00, I looked at a couple of articles and chose just one (William H. Starbuck) to put in my article list for a starter. But I won't start working on it till the blitz opens. --Thnidu (talk) 02:04, 8 December 2016 (UTC)
- Um, it's not really cricket to "claim" an article more than two days before the drive starts (although you're certainly welcome to claim—and copyedit—it now). All the best, Miniapolis 00:30, 9 December 2016 (UTC)
A Question
[edit]Just to be clear, are we allowed to count articles that aren't from the two themes for the blitz, or should we stick to those themes? Thanks, Gluons12 ☢|☕ 18:52, 8 December 2016 (UTC).
- Pinging Jonesey95. AFAIK, the blitz is limited to request articles—specifically, November requests. Miniapolis 00:33, 9 December 2016 (UTC)
- Sorry for any confusion. I removed one sentence and added a clarification. Here's what I left on the page:
- The themes of this blitz are (only articles from these two groups receive credit during this blitz):
- To reduce the number of outstanding requests on our Requests page. Good Article nominations (GANs) and Featured Article candidates (FACs) require careful editing by experienced copyeditors, with the prose bar higher for FACs than for GANs.
- To eliminate the November 2015 backlog articles.
- The themes of this blitz are (only articles from these two groups receive credit during this blitz):
- I chose these two groups of articles because there are not enough Requests on the Requests page to get us through a week-long blitz if editors are really enthusiastic. – Jonesey95 (talk) 02:33, 9 December 2016 (UTC)

Linking Blitz home page Current Blitz to December 2016
[edit]Hello, I just noticed that the Current Blitz tab at Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Blitzes is still linked to the October 2016 blitz. It should be changed. Dhtwiki (talk) 06:41, 11 December 2016 (UTC)
- Fixed. – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:01, 11 December 2016 (UTC)
