Projectspace Redirect blanking

[edit]

Hi Suffusion of Yellow, I just saw this thread and was actually surprised that this edit was not picked up by any filter. I was wondering if that can be changed. (I'm asking you directly instead of posting at WP:EF/R since you created 1151 (log)) Nobody (talk) 09:18, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I created that three years ago, but my own notes say that without the throttle, there are so many FPs [the] log is hard to pick through. Not sure if this is worth the trouble for non-reader-facing material. If they do it a few times, then stop, that's not a big deal, just revert and warn. If they go on a "spree", the filter will stop them. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 18:51, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I assumed there was something like that. My idea was that a log only filter like:
new_size < 100 &
equals_to_any(page_namespace, 4, 5, 12, 13) &
!("confirmed" in user_groups) &
(
(
redirect := "^#\s*redirect\s*\[\[";
removed_lines irlike redirect
)
) &
!(page_title irlike "sandbox|correct typos in one click|missing encyclopedic articles|fix common mistakes") &
!(user_name in removed_lines) &
!(summary irlike "^(?:undid|revert|rv)") &
page_first_contributor != user_name &
!oauth_consumer

could give me some hits to look at, but not sure if it's worth the trouble. Nobody (talk) 05:36, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, the recent changes "filters" can do this. Try something like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:RecentChanges?userExpLevel=unregistered%3Bnewcomer&hidebots=1&hidenewpages=1&hidecategorization=1&hideWikibase=1&hidelog=1&hidenewuserlog=1&namespace=4%3B5%3B14%3B15&tagfilter=mw-removed-redirect&limit=100&days=30&urlversion=2. On the one hand, except for a single MfD, every edit was reverted. On the other, only 36 edits in one month. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 18:24, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I did not know Recent changes was flexible enought to do this. I changed Category to Help Namespace in your link and it works just like a log filter. I'll keep my eyes on this and fix alse false positives for my code. But if I can fix all false positives then I'll probably request a disallow filter for this. Nobody (talk) 05:55, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm keeping the code at User:1AmNobody24/Projectspace Redirect blanking. If you have any improvements feel free to add them. Nobody (talk) 07:03, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Suffusion of Yellow, I need some help adding some improvements to this. If you have time could you see if the things here are possible to add? Thanks Nobody (talk) 15:09, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

FilterDebugger.js

[edit]

Thank you so much for writing this. It's quickly becoming one of my favorite user scripts. Would you be open to changing the "debug" menu links to be capitalized? It would be the only lowercase item in my entire Tools menu. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 22:54, 11 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

 Done. I should test for more than five seconds in skins other than Monobook, apparently. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 20:22, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I appreciate you tweaking this. It looks like there's one more "debug" on Special:AbuseLog. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 01:03, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Whoops, done! Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 19:21, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Why did you trigger edit filter? I trying to raise awareness for erradication of gender roles, forced erradication at that. 216.145.66.231 (talk) 02:18, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is about this attempted edit, I assume? Wikipedia aspires to the neutral point of view. If you think something is idiotic or evil, you're entitled to your opinion, but an encyclopedia article is not the place to share it. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 23:53, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry for using Wikipedia for it, I don't use social media. Wikipedia is like the only way I can spread awareness and make it go viral. Poe.com now says "I'm sorry, but I do not feel comfortable" when asking it many of the questions I could before. Reddit abandons me. 216.145.66.231 (talk) 14:56, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with you about the bs gender role stuff, and I feel as strongly as you do, but, Wikipedia isn't social media, you can't "spread awareness" and have things "go viral". This is an encyclopedia, it's just a repository of information that's not meant to have opinions attached to it. Kjvfiyguhoircpioruv (talk) 07:34, 17 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Some false positives on 1310

[edit]

I was checking through 1310 's log and found some false positives after debugging some of its entries (Special:AbuseLog/38129537 [reverting vandalism by an IP address using Ultraviolet] and Special:AbuseLog/38111302 [doesn't appear to be a Trump felon meme but some kind of article expansion] for example). I would recommend adding \b boundaries on lines 3 and 4, and exclude reverts with this new code I suggested:

page_namespace == 0 &
!contains_any(user_groups, "extendedconfirmed", "sysop", "bot") & (
    felon := "\bfelon\b|\b34\b|convicted|guilty";
    added_lines irlike "\btrump\b" &
    added_lines irlike felon &
    !(removed_lines irlike felon) &
    !summary irlike "\b(revert|rv|undid|undo|restor)"
)

Alternatively, if the felon meme has died down significantly, you might want to consider disabling 1310. Thank you. Codename Noreste 🤔 Talk 23:38, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yep. Good fixes, but I don't think a filter is needed anymore. Thanks. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 23:48, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

FilterDebugger requests

[edit]

Would it be possible to import recent changes from multiple users and IP addresses at the same time? Similarly, would it be possible to have a checkbox to also import deleted edits? Thanks for all of your hard work on these scripts. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 23:38, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Batch Test Plus config

[edit]

Hey there! I'm a big fan of your AbuseFilter scripts, I use them on my home wiki :). I noticed the buttons "FP check" and "FN check" of Batch Test Plus are disabled by default outside of enwiki. As I understand, that's because "FP check" requires a random sample filter. I was wondering, though, why "FN check" is also disabled by default. Do you think it could be enabled, or is there a way I could override that config on my common.js without forking your script? Thank you! --Titore (talk) 22:55, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, fyi, the filter doesn't seem to currently catch things like User :Example, so you might want to adapt the filter. (Another wiki decided to import the filter recently, and was wondering why it didn't catch certain (abusive) edits). 1234qwer1234qwer4 14:46, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Came across a pattern of behavior, possible LTA?

[edit]

I remember previously coming across editing where the person was adding specific age at time of death to multiple historical BIO articles, and adding specific order of office or occurrences to infoboxes. It seems so familiar but I can't quite pin down where I saw this before. I ran an Editor Interaction Utility on 2 editors and came up with a commonality of First Lady articles. But anyway, does this pattern of behavior ring any possible LTA filter bells for you? - Shearonink (talk) 19:21, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You can trim down filter 1248 again

[edit]

Hi, hope you are doing well.
In that archived EFN I had asked(I was that IPv4) for this filter to be changed because mobile app changes were using manual hashtag(#) summaries instead of using tags, it appears that since August, according to the linked task, the mobile apps now all use tags, so the patch (diff) can now be reverted :). – 2804:F1...DF:61D4 (::/32) (talk) 19:23, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
