Hmm...
[edit]- Many early adopters of Wikipedia are pioneers who exemplify Heinlein's themes of "the importance of individual liberty and self-reliance."
I'm not sure about this. Community was a core value for us, and still is. Barnstars were named by SunirShah as a reference to barn raising, an exemplary act of community spirit. You can't have stuck around with a volunteer project this long if you're only in it for yourself. — Hex (❝?!❞) 11:40, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
- Its not the pioneers didn't have community, it's just that it's a different kind of community. Pioneers are like, "Hey I'm gonna build a restaurant here" and folks are like "cool, don't have to cook all the time now." Settlements are like. "What? That's not zoned for a restaurant. You have file for a variance. Make sure follow the proper setbacks!" Or, more Wikipedia specific, wiki-pioneers are like, "Hey I know what a setback is, I'll write the article" [1] and wiki-settlers are like "This is not sourced. Let's stick an ugly tag on it." And we must have categories and make the hatnote the same format as all the other hatnotes [2]. NE Ent 03:53, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
