What is the purpose of the project?

[edit]

Can someone please explain to me in a coherent fashion how this page is related to writing an on-line encyclopedia? I am considering nominating this project for deletion. Lunokhod 23:06, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, that was quick. About five hours fifteen minutes after this was salvaged from Esperanza, and already cries for deletion!
Take from my simple, open minded explaination what you will; The idea behind a Stress Alerts page is to offer support to those wikipedians, who are the ones who write the encyclopedia, when they are, stressed, ill, leaving, etc, and also find out who is leaving wikipedia, offering support if that is what's needed, or wishing well in the future if that is needed. In doing this, the objective is to aid editors who wish to edit again happy with Wikipedia, and get them editing the encyclopedia again.
As I say, I'm arguing neither for, nor against this programme, only trying to explain what the point behind this project is. Thε Halo Θ 23:35, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
(I'm quoting myself on this here): When people are stressed out by vandal warring or editing problems on Wikipedia, or when real life is impacting their editing, a nice word from a few editors can go a really long way. This page allows that to happen; rather than just a few editors perhaps seeing when an editor is stressed out by running past their userpage, many people who are glad to cheer someone up can find out, and help them relax so they can get back to editing. As for editors who are thinking about leaving Wikipedia/have left it's up to every individual editor to react to someone deciding to leave Wikipedia. We've all seen people beg editors to come back, but it's really about accepting and supporting whatever an editor chooses to do. By having this page, and by knowing when someone is leaving Wikipedia, we can wish them well in the future and make them feel a little better about their editing experiences here. -- Natalya 01:19, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sick for 7 months?

[edit]

I've removed a "sick user" alert, which has been posted up for 7 months already. It doesn't make sense to keep it, since a person who fell ill 7 months later should have recovered already, or if anything left Wikipedia, or even the Earth. --Deryck C. 14:26, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
