Wikipedia:Voice intro project
The Voice intro project makes and solicits audio recordings in which Wikipedia subjects speak their name and introduce themselves, in response to a blog post, "Requesting open-licensed, open-format recordings of the voices of Wikipedia subjects for Wikimedia Commons", by Andy Mabbett (User:Pigsonthewing). We do this so that we know what notable people sound like; and how they pronounce their own names.
Examples
[edit]See the infoboxes on:
For a complete list please see the Commons categories.
How to record
[edit]For more details of how to make and upload a recording, examples, and a suggested script, please see Commons:Voice intro project.
Adding voice files to Wikipedia articles
[edit]- Use en:Template:Listen (copyable example below)
- Embed that in an infobox if possible. See an example of embedding
You may copy:
{{Listen| filename = XXXXX |title = XXXXX's voice |type = speech |description = recorded XXDATEXX }}
or, for embedding in infoboxes:
| module = {{Listen|pos=center|embed=yes|filename = XXXXX |title = XXXXX's voice |type = speech |description = recorded in XXDATEXX }}
