Having reduced the Category:Cypriniformes stubs from 2660 we know have a similar problem with one of its new subcats Category:Cyprinidae stubs with 1700+ articles.
I propose the following which catscan says will have 60 articles or more
- Category:Barbus stubs - {{Barbus-stub}}
- Category:Garra stubs - {{Garra-stub}}
- Category:Labeoninae stubs - {{Labeoninae-stub}}
- Category:Notropis stubs - {{Notropis-stub}}

Still trying to tame the magazine beast. I would like to create the following templates, with possible categories to follow, if the size allows:
- Category:Transportation magazine stubs / {{transport-mag-stub}}. For automobile magazines, motorcycle magazines, and any other transportation related magazines.
- (Justification for use of abbreviation: category:Transportation stubs uses {{transport-stub}})
- Category:Hobby magazine stubs / {{hobby-mag-stub}}. For hobby magazines.
- Category:News magazine stubs / {{news-mag-stub}}. For general news magazines.

I propose splitting this category into Category:American poet, 19th century birth stubs and Category:American poet, 20th century birth stubs.

Propose {{Spectroscopy-stub}} which would of course be a subcategory of Category:Physics-stub There are 90 stub articles listed at Article lists for Spectroscopy stubs. "Category:Spectroscopy articles by quality" has the number at 90 for stub articles in this category. During the normal course of my editing with the AWB bot I come across articles that I would rather classify as a Spectroscopy stub rather than simply a Physics stub. Physics stub is really too broad of a category for this set of articles. Steve Quinn (formerly Ti-30X) (talk) 04:58, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
- Looks like a good way of splitting an oversize cat.Waacstats (talk) 09:25, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for noting Category:Physics-stub is an oversized category. I think that is what I was trying to say in so many words. As the one who proposed this I meant that the {{Spectroscopy-stub}} should be a stub within the "Physics-stub" category so I changed the title of this section. Sorry, I have never done this before. At the moment I don't see any subcategory beneath {{Spectroscopy-stub}} - I just wanted to be clear on that. If a subcategory seems to be needed I can propose that too, I suppose. As I'm sorting the software stubs, I keep running into these four categories that I haven't really found another good location for.
- Category:Desktop environment stubs / {{desktop-environment-stub}} - The Windows and Mac world don't really differentiate between the system and the desktop environment, but there is a marked distinction in Linux between the operating system and the desktop environment. This would encompass both the desktop environments themselves, as well as things that deal tightly with such environments (like window decoration tools, etc).
- Category:Computer-aided design stubs / {{CAD-software-stub}} - For computer-aided design articles.
- Category:Computer security software stubs / {{security-software-stub}} - For articles dealing with Computer security software.
- Category:Digital typography stubs / {{digital-typography-stub}} - For computer-related typography articles. (See also digital typography)

Still trying to break down Category:Magazine stubs and Category:Cultural magazine stubs into decent sized categories. I'd like to propose the following:
- Category:Business magazine stubs / {{bus-mag-stub}} for business magazines
- Category:Computer magazine stubs / {{comp-mag-stub}} for computer magazines
- Category:Entertainment magazine stubs / {{ent-mag-stub}} for entertainment magazines (previously requested {{music-mag-stub}} will become a sub-category here)
- Category:Fashion magazine stubs / {{fashion-mag-stub}} for fashion magazines (see fashion journalism
- Category:Lifestyle magazine stubs / {{lifestyle-mag-stub}} for lifestyle magazines (see also lifestyle magazine)
Dawynn (talk) 01:09, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
- Looks like a good idea, same as before if the templates reach 60 then I support the categories, however I would suggest three name changes to the templates, I don't think we want a stub template for magazines about buses so I suggest changing bus-mag-stub to {{Business-mag-stub}}, I think we generally use compu not comp so change comp-mag-stub to {{Compu-mag-stub}} and I don't think that the ents of middle earth have many magazines so change ent-mag-stub to {[tl|Entertainment-mag-stub}}. Look up this Category: Category:Districts of Cairo; more than 30+ articles are present in very short length and only with Egypt-stub. I guess it is quite reasonable to create a stub collecting these articles about districts of Cairo. Thanks. Mohamed Magdy (talk) 21:38, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose Category:Egypt geography stubs has around 220 articles in it, which is not enough to force a split. Also, we sort by geographic subdivision, so sorting by governate is the better option. --TM 14:35, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose ALso as far as I'm aware there are never likely to be 60 articles on districts of Cairo. I only support templates which I think at one time will easily surpass 60. Also 220 geo stubs is very low. - Oppose for now. I don't really dabble much in zoology or biology. I looked up Category:Iguanidae and Category:Chameleons. I haven't explored yet to see how many stubs would apply, but would like to propose the following upmerged templates for this purpose. Each of these would upmerge to Category:Magazine stubs (an overpopulated category) until they have been filled out:
- {{sport-mag-stub}} - For Sports magazines
- {{reli-mag-stub}} - For Religious magazines
- {{poli-mag-stub}} - For Political magazines
- {{music-mag-stub}} - For Music magazines

Update: Did a quick scan. Numbers may be a bit off once sorting begins. But, here's what I show for cross-category scans. Note, the listed magazines typically tend to be either in general category "Magazine stubs" or in the also gigantic subcategory "Cultural magazine stubs":
- Sports magazine stubs -- about 91 articles.
- Religious magazine stubs -- about 58 articles.
- Political magazine stubs -- about 115 articles.
- Music magazine stubs -- about 63 articles.
