Does anyone have access to J.P. Wearing (2014), p. 586, please?
[edit]{{Resolved}}
Dear colleagues,
I hope this is the appropriate page to request assistance with identifying the title of a play listed on page 586 in J.P. Wearing's 2014 edition of The London Stage 1930–1939: A Calendar of Productions, Performers, and Personnel.[1]
I am in the process of drafting an article about the actress Gertrude Musgrove (1912–2006) and there is only this one play in which she performed that I am unable to identify. I would normally purchase the book, but since the cheapest copy available costs over £140 (!), I am hopeful that a kind Wikipedia editor might have access to this book and might therefore also be willing to assist me with this small research task. All google.books will display in the View all window is the following short list of roles and actresses:
- Gertrude Musgrove as Antoinette
- Mary Ewin as Lady-in-waiting
- Elspeth Duxbury as Regina
The roles of 'Lady-in-waiting' and 'Regina' seem to hint at the play Victoria, Queen And Empress, in which Duxbury performed in 1938 but, of course, I can't rely on such guesswork! I'd be immensely grateful to any colleague who might have time and inclination to assist with this request.
Very many thanks in anticipation, and please accept my apologies if I should have posted my request at another page.
With kind regards;
Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(become old-fashioned!) 18:16, 18 March 2023 (UTC)

Now that I'm done with Louis Crews (see above), I was thinking of writing an article for Alabama A&M football coach George H. Hobson, who preceded him. I feel like I've found close to enough coverage to meet GNG, but currently not enough. I see through google books snippet view that on page 33 (and 15) of History of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, 1913-1990 Hobson appears to be covered. I can't read it, but it looks like it could be the piece to get him over the GNG line and so I would like if someone could show me it so I can determine whether to create an article for him or not.

'Kitchener wants you' and 'Daddy, what did YOU do in the Great War?' The myth of British recruiting posters
[edit]Hello all! I'm having some trouble finding this article. It was published in issue 11 of the Imperial War Museum Review, a bi-annual publication written by the Museum staff.
- Hiley, Nicholas (1999). "'Kitchener wants you' and 'Daddy, what did YOU do in the Great War?' The myth of British recruiting posters". Imperial War Museum Review (11): 40–58.
Some citations put the date as 1997 instead.
This article would be valuable for improvements to Daddy, what did you do in the Great War?. A lot of books and other journals cite this article, so I would like to see the source myself.

- There you go. When speaking of major English-language news outlets, you can often bypass paywalls by running the articles through archiving pages. Szmenderowiecki (talk) 18:52, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Szmenderowiecki: Did you archive the page first to get the full text content or has it been archived already? – Doc Taxon • Talk • 11:18, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
- Doc Taxon It had already been archived by the time I visited archive.today. The time and date on the top right says "24 Feb 2023 08:53:06 UTC", which obviously is before this request was filed. At the same time, I know that for some news outlets (FT is one of them), this approach works. Szmenderowiecki (talk) 11:23, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Szmenderowiecki: Is there any difference to try this with archive.today (archive.is) or alternatively with web.archive.org? – Doc Taxon • Talk • 11:33, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
- Doc Taxon I almost always use archive.is to post full-text versions, as it works on the largest number of websites (largely limited to British, American and Canadian media, though)
- I tried numerous archives to see if they unlock the FT, and used today's article about the protests in Israel against the judiciary reform as a test (not the same as the opinion piece requested).
- WebArchive, FreezePage and Wikiwix don't work, but archive.is does. GhostArchive did not archive the page after several minutes of waiting. Szmenderowiecki (talk) 12:14, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Szmenderowiecki: Thank you, good to know – Doc Taxon • Talk • 18:52, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
