- Keep Wikipedia is not censored. Although we seem to have an unwritten policy against photographic evidence of human sexual behaviour.--Nydas(Talk) 19:10, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
- It's not an unwritten policy, it's part of the Manual of Style, specifically WP:PROFANITY. --carelesshx talk 00:35, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- Awesome I think it might be worth noting that the nominator orphaned the image. See here. -- Ben 00:14, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- Comment Legally we probably need 2257 information if this image is to be kept. But I'm not sure. Godwin might shed some light. WilyD 01:18, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

- we already have plenty of free images of josephine baker, e.g. this portrait Image:Josephinebaker.jpg Calliopejen1 14:19, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
- instead of being so bent on having this image deleted, why dont you try and assist me in finding a way to keep it on here. Mrlopez2681 00:47, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- There is no way to keep it according to WP:NONFREE, because it is copyrighted. The alternative is to include the FREE portrait of Baker. Calliopejen1 16:16, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

- no need to have a photo of this funeral, when a textual description is perfectly adequate. the article already has plenty of free photos Calliopejen1 14:21, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
- image is an adequate visual display of the funeral. It is your own opinion that this photo is not required - I was under the impression that a 'fair use' photo can be added if the text discusses some aspect of what is displayed in the photo. It will not hurt anyone by having it up nor it will it infringe on anyone who might possibly have a copyright. Fair use tags state - "To illustrate the subject in question when no free equivalent is available or could be created that would adequately give the same information."
User:Calliopejen1 needs to go rummage through some other articles for non-free images that actually might "hurt" wikipedia. --Mrlopez2681 00:40, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- Keep. It seems Calliopejen1's standard argument now that "text also can describe" the content of the photo. Then 99% of the images on Wikipedia could be deleted. But an an image describes things in another, additional way. - What an impressive photo of the funeral.--Peter Eisenburger 06:31, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- This is not just a standard argument, this is policy. From WP:NONFREE: "Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding. Non-free media files are not used if they can be replaced by text that serves a similar function." This image does not "significantly increase readers' understanding" of Josephine Baker. Calliopejen1 18:04, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
- The picture increases my understanding about the importance of Josephine Baker significantly. And I am a reader and a contributor of English and German Wikipedia. - See my answer above concerning your argumentation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Peter Eisenburger (talk • contribs) 20:43, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
